I was about to say that the petrol engine is supposed to be bulletproof, then I noticed the ad says it's a non-runner!

Most of the ones of that vintage that I've seen still on the road (they were called Montero in the US) are busy belching blue smoke out the tailpipe. It seems to be a Mitsubishi thing.

If it's the engine which is at fault. Are there many about in Australia? Quite a few still flying around here in UK

I'd ring the bloke. It's in great nick, so you have to wonder why he's selling if it's a simple fix

We had one just like that but in white when I was a kid. It was really nice, almost like a Japanese Land Rover. And just like an LR, it kept having problem after problem after problem. The final nail in the coffin was when the ECU pretty much melted on us. It's a great truck when running, but it won't be cheap to own.
